MAGT

Electro-pop art band with a message

MAGT is an art band of four artists and loving friends whose shared epiphany was to create an accessible music project that could combine our natural creative chemistry with the raw, socially conscious observations and artistically challenging dance-able music we craved for ourselves and our audience. The foundational wisdom of formalizing as a group, namely sharing the toil and rewards, plus the ability to amplify our voices with unity, also gave rise to the wider art collective, Bureau Of Power And Light. MAGT has been creating compelling electronic music in intense and sporadic cycles since 2012. We wrote, directed and edited our first video ourselves, and made it available on our website, also completely designed and maintained by us.

We have recorded original tracks ourselves- all music composed and performed by Geoff Doner, also the author of all lyrics to date. We have had the honour of working with community partners when playing live with World Pride Toronto 2014 at Glad Day Bookstore, Nuit Rose 2016, The Centre For Social Innovation 2014,2016, and others. Our newest compositions represent our most pointed and timely reflections on the state of the world. The members of MAGT engage in multi-media art creation and activism both collectively and individually.

The artists of MAGT are proudly engaged in social justice locally and globally. We advocate for equality through our art and work, who we collaborate with, the causes we stand for, and those we stand in solidarity with.

We strive for artistic excellence in all musical projects, and choose to work with others who share our work ethic and creative flexibility. MAGT is a project of Bureau Of Power And Light art collective. Since 2014, we have worked to expand empathy through the arts with partner institutions and individuals with whom we align in our ultimate goal, to make the world a better place for all beings.

MAGT wants to reach the widest audience possible, globally. People of all ages. We want to connect with socially conscious individuals and communities to amplify grassroots concerns, address social and ecological injustice. We hope to inspire positive change and encourage honest reflection in all who are moved by our music.
